pondo is a digital product design collective in Cape Town. We design the software, the workflows behind it, and the service around it, so complex products actually work for the people who use them.
Most difficult software problems do not sit neatly in one discipline. Some are screen problems. Some are workflow problems. Some only make sense when you follow the whole service.
UX design
What the user has to live with.
Screens, flows, forms, labels, empty states, error messages. The things people meet all day, and the place where vague strategy turns into a button someone has to press.
Approvals, exceptions, roles, handoffs, second checks, manual overrides. We draw the work as it really happens, then design the product around that reality.
Onboarding emails, call-centre scripts, support handoffs, follow-up, billing, renewals. The product may be good and the service can still fail two steps later.
However the work is framed, a few things stay true.
Enterprise specialists. We spend our time on business software, not campaign sites or consumer apps.
Complex products. Banking, logistics, mining, legal, HR, insurance. The kind of systems where the edge cases matter.
Risk reduction. We make the expensive disagreements visible while they are still cheap to fix.
Multi-industry. We have worked across enough sectors to know when a pattern travels, and when it really does not.
Multi-platform. Web, mobile, back-office, dashboards, tablet tools in noisy yards. The context changes the design.
Bridging team. We are comfortable in the room with executives, operators, designers and developers at the same table.
Methodology-aligned. Agile, waterfall, hybrid, something held together by calendar invites. We fit the way the work is funded and governed.
Clients
A few of the teams that trusted us with hard problems.
Some of this work is public. Much of it is not. When the NDA allows it, we are happy to walk through the details rather than flatten them into a glossy case study.
Selected work
Work that had to survive contact with operations.
A small sample of the kind of product work we tend to do. Less launch-day theatre, more "can someone use this on a Tuesday afternoon when the queue is backing up?"
Wealth & FintechInvestor portfolios and banking tools.
Statement redesigns, app onboarding, and dashboards for people who want answers without learning the institution's internal vocabulary first.
Credit & InsuranceLoan origination and collections.
Mobile-first onboarding, decisioning UI, and agent workflows where "just add another status" is rarely the right answer.
Logistics & MiningOperational systems for rough contexts.
Scheduling, asset tracking, and field-worker tools designed for gloves, glare, interruptions and unreliable connectivity.
Industries
Where the work tends to land.
Our centre of gravity is regulated, operational, workflow-heavy software. South Africa is home, but the systems have not always stayed inside the border.

Building something with too many moving parts?
Send the messy version. We are better when we can see the knots.
